  • The Innovation of Microblading

You most likely have heard about the latest trend of microblading for achieving amazing brows. There is no doubt that the results delivered by microblading are superior to any other long term treatment for brow enhancement we have seen in the past. This is the ideal treatment for you to consider if you are not satisfied with the results from the endless waxes, gels, powders and pencils on the market.  We already know that eyebrows have a big impact on the overall appearance of the face. Brows have the ability to accentuate your features and create balance when groomed.  With brows booming in the business microblading services are popping up everywhere.  Here are answers to your top microblading questions.

    1.) What is microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent pigmentation process that uses several fine blades to partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hair. This procedure allows for customization of thickness, shape, color, and definition to eyebrows.

2.) Is it the same as eyebrow tattooing?

No, there are several differences between microblading and brow tattooing. First, microblading is the process of implanting pigment into the basal membrane which divides the superficial layer of the skin from deepest layer to create fuller looking brows. However, eyebrow tattooing does reach the deepest layer of the skin. Second, microblading is done using a hand held tool, also know as a pen to stimulate hair strokes in the brow whereas eyebrow tattoo is done with a motorized device.  Third, microblading artists also use pigment vs. ink. Pigment has a thicker consistency while ink is more watery in texture and tends to have more staying power. The majority of pigment will last in the skin between 1-5 years, keeping in mind different skin types and the use of skin care products. There is no “spilling” under the skin which leaves the strokes fine and crisp. Naturally the pigment will exfoliate out of the skin over time causing the pigment to lighten. Tattoo ink penetrates down to the dermis and is permeant unless treated with laser tattoo removal.

    3.) Does it hurt?

A topical numbing ream is applied to the area to minimize any discomfort. Most clients would agree that this is a relatively painless treatment to undergo.

    4.) What can I expect?

The first session will take approximately 2 hours to custom design your brow shape based on your bone structure, eye placement, face shape and other factors. The pigment choice is then selected. Once your shape and pigment are agreed upon, you will then be numbed using a lidocaine cream.  After your initial appointment, a touch up will be done between 4-6 weeks later.

    5.) Is there downtime?

There is not significant downtime after your treatment. Many clients can walk right out the door, ready to show off their new brows. Once the procedure is complete, minor redness and swelling is expected to occur. Initially the color of the new brow will look very dark, but this will soften in 2-3 weeks.  The most important thing is to keep this area clean and dry as it heals. Also, It is important to note that there is no sweating for 48 hours after the procedure.

6.) How long does it last?

Each person is different but you can expect to have your results for 12-18 months. Factors such as skin type and products being utilized can impact the duration of results. For example, those with more oily skin and/or use regular exfoliations such as Retin-A or acids will be more likely to need a touch up sooner.

  • Take Your Look to the Next Level with Microblading at Bella Body Medical Spa in Yardley Pa

Microblading is taking the industry by storm! The latest, most advanced technique to rejuvenate your brows and define your eyes.

You Probably Have Heard About It, But What Is It?

Microblading is a semi-permanent pigmentation process that uses several fine blades to partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hair. This procedure allows for customization of thickness, shape, color, and definition to eyebrows.

    How It Works

Unlike traditional cosmetic tattoos that are applied to the dermis, a deeper layer of skin, microblading is applied to the upper epidermis, a layer of skin closer to the surface. This technique gives the hair strokes a more natural, fine, feathered look and lasts for up to one year. The 100% natural pigments are tailored to each person’s skin and brow color. Those who suffer from thinning eyebrows, patches of undergrowth or overgrowth, or even people suffering from skin conditions such as alopecia will greatly benefit from the self confidence that is instilled with the prefect eyebrows framing their face.

    What Should I Expect?

Your goals and expectations will be discussed during your microblading consultation. The actual microblading treatment requires two sessions that are six weeks apart to reach optimal results.

The procedure itself takes approximately 2 hours from start to finish. The majority of this time is dedicated to extensive prep work to ensure we match the perfect eyebrow shape and brow color that best suits you. A topical anesthetic will be applied prior to the treatment area to minimize any discomfort. Once the procedure is complete, minor redness and swelling is expected to occur. Initially the color of the new brow will look very dark, but this will soften as it heals over. The most important thing is to keep this area clean and dry as it heals. Also, It is important to note that there is no sweating for 48 hours after the procedure.
